Grim Soul: Dark Survival RPG is available to be downloaded and installed as a free-to-play game on both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store.
In this guide for Grim Soul: Dark Survival RPG, we’re going to be presenting some of the core gameplay mechanics that are going to be crucial for your survival. We have tried to present players with a unique perspective that will allow them to make their own decisions, as the game clearly wants them to. However, the tips and in-depth explanation of these mechanics should empower any incoming survivor to enjoy their time in the dark fantasy world of Plaguelands.
Completing the Starting Tutorial and Progressing Further
First things first, it’s not easy to even finish the tutorial of Grim Soul: Dark Survival RPG. This is thanks to the game’s no hand-holding policy that leaves the player on their own, like a true survival RPG. While many hardcore lovers of the genre love this fact, there are many which struggle even to complete the tutorial. Here are some of our basic tips to get out of the tutorial easily and to teach yourself how to progress in early game:
- After you dispatch the few zombies and collect all the available resources in the area, there are no drawbacks other than the surrounding land of your stronghold appearing less visually appealing.
- Using those materials, assemble a tiny cabin that measures 2 by 2 or 3 by 3. No one or anything can enter a space unless every wall is connected to every other wall. (Only the stronghold’s owner is able to open the door.)
- Store all of your “furniture” (chests, work tables, etc.) inside your cabin to keep other players from stealing your belongings.
- Prioritize your survival above collecting all the loot and resources in the early stages of the game. In the event of your death, all of your clothes, tools, and belongings are gone when you awaken fully naked at your stronghold.
- Events do occur from time to time (such as, Ambushed Caravan). A timer above the event will tell you how much time you have to attend; however, the timer stops as soon as you arrive at the venue. Staying in the event location while your energy regenerates will allow you to run to your stronghold, store all of your loot, and then run back to get more, allowing you to transfer all of the loot to your stronghold without the timer running out if you’re low on energy.
Manage your Inventory the Right Way
Inventory is a very personal aspect of every player in Grim Soul: Dark Survival RPG. However, a bad mismanagement of inventory can lead to over cluttering of useless items, and can destroy a lot of precious time that could be used elsewhere, such as surviving. Puns aside, here are some of our personal tips to manage your inventory:
- Refrain from altering your inventory while inside a space. Before you even realize they are there, newly spawned enemies have the ability to attack and/or kill you.
- If you must quickly switch your inventory while in-game, make sure that: (a) there are no threats on the mini map; (b) your health is as high as possible; (c) you don’t leave the inventory screen for more than a few seconds to make sure no new threats have appeared; and (d) you watch for a flash of red that indicates you are under attack, in which case you should leave the inventory screen as soon as possible.
- Changes in the area inventory should be done with extra caution at night, as the Night Guest enjoys killing gullible exiles.
Preventing Spawns Happening all the Time
Different types of mobs will occasionally spawn in your stronghold zone. Leper, Damned, Wolf, Bear, and possibly higher tier creatures are among the possible options. If you don’t have a Mat, this can be annoying since these creatures can repeatedly kill your character by breaking into your stronghold. Mobs can be stopped from spawning, with the exception of Night Visitors, if you can trap them in a building of your choosing. One or more mobs are trapped in a single square building on the edge of your stronghold zone using a variety of tactics.
Playing Grim Soul: Dark Survival RPG on a bigger screen of your PC with BlueStacks without worrying about battery drainage and smooth gameplay, is highly recommended.
