Lords and Tactics - Hero Tier List
People who play Lords and Tactics will eventually be encouraged to collect as many hero characters in the game for their kingdom. The game features a variety of unique characters that are inspired by the Three Kingdoms era in the east. Heroes play a vital role in your kingdom, acting as commanders to your armies and as champions when fighting in the arena. Players can have as many heroes as they can collect in their kingdom but only a handful will actually be used in the game.
Best Lords and Tactics Tier List
The variety of characters in the game is nice since history buffs will enjoy collecting familiar names and recalling their roles in the war during the time period. However, players who are only interested in the power of a hero will most likely only care about which heroes are powerful or not. That is why we’ve prepared a tier list that will rank some of the most powerful units in the game depending on how popular they are in the current arena’s ranked ladder.
Hero Tier List
In this tier list, we’ll only be ranking that Legendary heroes since it is widely understood that they are the most powerful units in the game with the highest base stats and biggest stat growth out of all the available units. This makes them innately more valuable than the other heroes in the game, especially since their skills and abilities are also a level above the other characters in the game.
These heroes also have other importances which we discussed in our Economy Guide that’ll teach players the importance of managing your kingdom’s resources to achieve dominance. In this tier list, we’ll mostly talk about their combat prowess so players who are looking to be more aggressive will want to take a look at the characters they’ll want to collect if they’re trying to pull specific heroes for their kingdom.
S Tier
The S Tier is where the best units in the game belong. These units are popular among the higher-ranked players in the game because they are irreplaceable in terms of their role in the team. In their role, other alternatives are inferior to the value that they bring to the team,
- Guan Yu
Guan Yu is a powerful damage dealer who belongs to the Shu kingdom. He deals a heavy amount of physical damage to the entire enemy team by sweeping across them. In terms of raw damage, Guan Yu has the highest value out of any DPS not just among his faction, but also in the entire character roster. He also has good bulk despite being purely focused on being a DPS unit.
The cavalry is probably the most valued character type in the game because they provide quick offensive options for players. Guan Yu has a monstrous strength stat that makes him great at dealing normal damage to the enemy team. He is undoubtedly the best character in the game which makes a lot of players choose the Shu faction over the others.
- Guo Jia
Guo Jia is a powerful damage dealer from the Wei kingdom. He has the most powerful AoE damaging ability in the form of his Icy Shower which deals a massive amount of damage to the entire enemy team. Out of all the Wei heroes, he has the most devastating damage ability which makes him the top choice for damage carries in the team.
Guo Jia also has a nice balance of stats, where his intelligence shines to give him more value as a member of the team. Crossbows are also highly valued in the game because they are able to deal a large chunk of damage in quick succession.
A Tier
The A Tier units also have some irreplaceable characters in the game that provide value to their squad. However, they have no real competition in terms of the role they play for the team so it often feels like players are left with no options but to choose them. Regardless, they are still important pieces that players should have.
- Cai Wenji
Cai Wenji is a support hero from the Wei kingdom. She currently ranks as the top support in the game and provides so much utility with her ability to increase the skill damage of her allies, making the entire team more lethal in a fight. Healers are highly prized in the game but as mentioned before, the game provides very few alternatives so her place in the rankings is mostly uncontested.
Aside from being a powerful support, Cai Wenji also deals a high amount of damage. After all, her abilities scale depending on her ATK stat so she is basically built to have offensive capabilities to make sure that her utility is maximized efficiently.
- Liu Bei
Liu Bei is another support hero and he’s from the Shu kingdom. The only reason that Liu Bei is ranked lower than Cai Wenji is that he only targets two characters. His buffs are extremely good and mostly make up for not having a global heal, which also adds to the fact that his heal values are also higher.
The reason why healing only 2 out of 3 heroes is such a weakness is that the meta revolves around having heavy hitters that attack the entire enemy team. This means that if you use this hero’s ability, there will always be one unit that’s in kill range. Regardless, this unit’s healing is still ridiculous and makes it almost impossible to kill the frontline in one turn.
B Tier
The B Tier units are the final part of the best units in the game. Their usage is pretty niche and they are often added to teams but they have a very small utility that they are replaceable. However, they are definitely the best at what they do even though they are not as popular.
- Zhuge Liang
Zhuge Liang is a unique case in that he acts like a support but he’s actually a heavy-hitting damage dealer. He is from the Shu kingdom. His ability allows him to deal a ton of damage but only if the enemy takes damage after he casts this skill. This means that he is heavily reliant on an ally to help him meet the requirement.
This might sound like a bad ability but the damage he deals with is ridiculously high. However, he needs to have one damage dealer alongside him to fully maximize his utility in battle meaning the player has to sacrifice using a frontline tank or a support healer.
- Gan Ning
Gan Ning is the first entry from the very unpopular Wu kingdom. The only reason why Wu isn’t such a popular faction in the game is that the top players prefer using Shu while others try to counter it using Wei. However, players who play Wu will definitely want to have the kingdom’s top unit in Gan Ning.
This unit has a ridiculous ability that deals a heavy amount of damage to the entire enemy team and then lowers their defense for two turns. This means that your team will have an easier time sweeping the enemy. If only the meta wasn’t so heavily tilted in the favor of the Shu kingdom, Gan Ning would lead the Wu to the top ranks.
