Once Human Guide to Building and Construction
Enjoy playing post-apocalyptic survival games with amazing graphics? Well, the new game Once Human is seemingly right up your alley! The game features eldritch horrors straight out of a fantasy movie, all the while maintaining a humanitarian plot. Players role-play as meta-human, a genetically advanced species that have been infused with technology to adapt to their current surroundings. One of the biggest tasks all players must engage with is constructing and upgrading their settlements. This guide will clear away all your doubts pertaining to building and construction related activities in Once Human.
What is a Settlement and How to Build it?
Your settlement is your home. This is the base area from where you operate on a day-to-day basis. The game offers a lucrative building system that entices players. You can create many large-scale structures, although it is not always the best option as you can attract some bad company. Firstly, you will need to circle off a space on the map as your territory. Only the area in blue is available to be part of your territory. Once you have acquired the land, it’s time to build!
Building stuff in Once Human is quite easy. In fact, the developers have included a separate feature to help you with this. Turn on construction mode, access the build menu, and explore the various building structures. Once Human allows you to build however you see fit. Everything, from the foundation to the roof, can be customized to your specifications. Do you like a simple shelter? What about a trendy two-story cottage or a grandiose four-story mansion? Or perhaps a fortress armed to the teeth with the strongest defensive systems? The choice is yours.
Décor and Furnishing
Decorations are an important viewpoint from the player perspective and the developers understand the human need to decorate their homes. There are a variety of decorative options to choose from such as wallpapers, wall hangings, and furniture styles for chairs, tables, sofas, and more. You can even add touch-ups such as chandeliers and art pieces to elevate the theme of your home. The game also carries some smaller goods, such as potted plants, wall art, and light fixtures. Decorate your new home however you see fit, and wow your friends!
Power Up your Settlement
The storyline of Once Human is set in a technologically advanced world. Players can utilize and harness the power of technology and electricity to power up their settlements. It not only makes tasks more efficient and easier to complete but also allows you to unlock new offensive and defensive technologies. The first and foremost component that you will require is a “Generator”. There are multiple types of generators to choose from.
For example, a Solar Generator runs on solar energy from the sun or you can use energy gained by burning food from your inventory. Your only problem would be finding a suitable power supply. Once found, you can rest easy and connect it to a generator and bid adieu to power issues. Many Territory amenities require electricity to function properly, such as refrigerators to preserve food, illumination for long, dark evenings, and automatic doors. Electricity is also a great resource for defense. Connect your generator to a turret and add a sensor to deter unwanted intruders.
Protecting your Settlement from Grave Dangers
Due to the chaotic environment that will constantly haunt you, your settlement needs to be fortified with several defensive mechanisms set in place. Hostile players or monsters can take advantage if your guards are set low. Depending if you’re on a PvE or PvP server, these shenanigans can be even more chaotic. Make use of all the tools at your disposal, such as turrets, traps, barriers, and many types of sensors. In Once Human, you have the freedom to be creative. Set up a maze of sophisticated traps, or set a few turrets in plain sight, so potential invaders know who they’re up against.
Remember, threats can take many various forms. As if hostile gamers and the occasional wandering crocodile weren’t enough, Once Human also requires you to keep an eye out for a variety of weird things. If you mistakenly bring one of these harmful things into your home, it may attract a swarm of hostile Deviants, as well as one of the Ancient One’s Kin.
Form Alliances to Share Space
It can get quite lonely out there all alone. If you’re wanting some alliance with other players or simply companionship, feel free to join hands with another player and create a Hive. You can do so by migrating your territory core inside the Hive space. Doing so will enable you to build more areas in the Hive. If the other players and you have a fallout or they accidentally destroy your structures, they will be automatically sent to your Vault from where you can retrieve them. Hence, your resources won’t get destroyed.
You can build them again or dismantle it from your Territory core. Apart from decorative purposes, Hives have many advantages such as cooperation, resource sharing, and faster item crafting bonuses. Adventuring together with your Hive members can also give you an edge over your enemies in combat.
Playing Once Human on a bigger screen of your PC with BlueStacks without worrying about battery drainage and smooth gameplay, is highly recommended.
